CHICAGO SOCCER CLUB TO COACH UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN IN
BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS SPORTS DAY CAMP EVENT SATURDAY, AUG. 4,
2007
Recreational club to take lead in organizing the soccer
portion of the
all-day sports event in Chicago’s Burnham Park
CHICAGO
(July 30, 2007) -- The Calcio Chicago Soccer Club today announces
its partnership with Big Brothers Big Sister of Metropolitan Chicago
to sponsor a sports day camp at Burnham Park in Chicago on Aug.
4, 2007, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The camp will host 60 children as they
learn the nuts and bolts of three sports that day: soccer, basketball
and volleyball.
The Calcio Club teammates will begin the soccer clinic by teaching
the children the rules of soccer, the technical and tactical fundamentals
of the sport, and good exercise habits that make great players.
In addition, the recreational team members will guide the children
through a series of group practice drills and end the soccer portion
with a mini game scrimmage. The Calcio Chicago Soccer Club is currently
working to secure local corporate sponsors for the event, with the
end “goal” in mind of giving a soccer ball to each child
as a gift.
“Most adults who enjoy playing soccer today discovered their
love of the game at an early age. Because we think it is such a
fun game with teamwork at the core, we want to share some basics
with the kids to hopefully encourage soccer as a future healthy
hobby,” said Anthony Isabelli, team president, Calcio Chicago
Soccer Club. “We’re happy to help Big Brothers Big Sisters
with this day camp and appreciate its day-to-day dedication to children.”
Each year, the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago
organization continues to advance the cause of providing mentors
to underprivileged children. Through its programs and one-on-one
mentoring, the non-profit group has seen many lives changed for
the better.
Recently the team captured a league championship by winning the
Windy City Sunday Night Indoor League title. With continued support
into the 2007 summer season, the recreational club is poised for
growth, competitive play and more success.
